Background & History

Dai Mubai was born as the Third Prince of the Star Luo Empire and the son of Consort Lian. As an infant, he stood far behind his six-year-old elder brother Dai Weisi in cultivation, but was later recognized as a genuine genius after awakening a pure White Tiger Martial Soul with Innate Soul Power exceeding Level 9.5. 4 29

The imperial succession struggle placed him in danger. Following an assassination attempt, Dai Zhen confined him to the palace for protection. Consort Lian later pleaded with Empress Zhu Zitang to spare him, offering to sever ties with the Zhen Clan and even sacrifice her own life; the Empress agreed not to kill Mubai, provided that he obeyed Dai Weisi. 21 29

Dai Weisi did not treat Mubai as an enemy. He taught him martial arts and cultivation methods despite confusing his own followers, who believed he was strengthening a potential rival. 24 Mubai's apparent humiliation by Dai Weisi and a masked man, together with his desire to uncover the truth behind his mother's fate, initially drove him into reckless overtraining. He eventually learned to follow the palace physicians' advice, recover from hidden injuries, and cultivate with restraint. 30

Consort Lian was later found seemingly dead under mysterious, freezing circumstances. Mubai mourned her deeply and came to suspect Empress Zhu Zitang after overhearing palace rumors, though he was unwilling to believe she could be responsible. 29 After the Elder Council's destruction, news that Consort Lian was alive spread and removed the central estrangement between the brothers, leaving Mubai burdened by guilt over his earlier misunderstanding of Dai Weisi. 77 95

To shield Mubai from Spirit Hall and court intrigue, Dai Weisi arranged for his public exile and secret enrollment at Shrek Academy. Mubai chose to remain there and pursue strength rather than return to the comforts of the Star Luo palace. 55 95

Personality

Dai Mubai is ambitious, competitive, and unusually diligent. He refused to slack off even after leaving home, using the foundation provided by Dai Weisi and the Wanjin Chamber of Commerce's resources to surpass his original potential. 103

He combines confidence with restraint. During his first clashes with Tang San and Xiao Wu, he could have overwhelmed them by activating his martial soul, but chose to enjoy the challenge instead. When law enforcers arrived, he stayed behind, paid the merchants for the damage, and prevented Zhu Zhuqing from pursuing the fleeing pair alone. 104

Mubai is also highly wary of hidden motives. Tang San's brief killing intent and outwardly polite apology convinced him that Tang San was dangerous and should not be trusted blindly. 104
