The nine suns were the children of Dijun and Xi He. They had originally rested upon the Sun Fusang Tree, but Jie Yin had summoned and released them in accordance with an unseen guidance.

With his nine sons struck down, Dijun flew into a rage. The witches and demons resumed their slaughter, plunging the land once more into carnage. Blood Qi filled the air, corpses covered the ground, and devastation stretched as far as the eye could see.

The Witch-Demon War reached its climax.

One of the Twelve Ancestral Witches, Hou Tu, had left the Witch Clan under guidance and arrived in the Netherworld, where she comprehended the Dao of Reincarnation. She conceived the Six Paths Reincarnation and transformed her body into it.

For a time, Merit descended upon her, propelling her directly into the Saint realm and making her the first Earth Dao Saint between Heaven and Earth.

This should have been a great joy, yet the rules of Heaven and Earth prevented her from leaving the Six Paths Reincarnation.

With one of the Twelve Ancestral Witches gone, the power of the Heavenly Gods and Demons formation greatly declined, and the Witch Clan fell beneath the Demon Clan.

The final battle between witches and demons was fought in the heavens. The Eleven Ancestral Witches each self-detonated, perishing together with the demons. Dijun and Taiyi died.

Thus, the Witch-Demon Tribulation came to an end, and the remnant lineages of witches and demons retreated into hiding.
