At the river of passage, an old monk ferried a boat in the river. He wore a bamboo hat, and mysterious Buddhist light covered his entire body.

Xuanzang and his group arrived at the riverbank, and the old monk cooperatively poled his boat over to shore.

"Come aboard!"

Xuanzang held his hands in a Buddhist salute and smiled faintly before stepping onto the boat. Sun Wukong and the others followed close behind.

Unexpectedly, the boat began taking on water midway across the river, yet the old monk remained calm. He said nothing, merely nodded and smiled.

Xuanzang looked terrified and turned to Sun Wukong. Sun Wukong narrowed his eyes at the old monk steering the boat ahead, seeming to understand something, and hurriedly reassured Xuanzang.

Sure enough, moments later, the boat shot out of the water and entered the clouds.

"Master, look down below," Sun Wukong said, pointing beneath them.

Xuanzang and the others looked down and saw their own corpses floating in the river below.

Xuanzang was startled, but Sun Wukong burst into laughter. "Master, don't panic. We've shed our mortal flesh."

The old monk steering the boat ahead nodded and smiled.

After an unknown amount of time, the ferry reached shore. A Golden Light Palace appeared before them, with Buddhas waiting beneath it.

After bidding farewell to the old ferryman, Xuanzang and his group smiled as they climbed the steps.

The waiting Buddhas then led them into the great hall.

Inside, all the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas turned their gazes toward Xuanzang and his group.
