The God is Dead.

Gawain stared at the words carved into the stone for a long while. Not knowing how to react, he showed no outward response. Behind him, Yuri and the other two drew closer, and those warped, dark-red engraved marks came into everyone's view.

"...All my ancestors..." Magnan's eyes widened. "What does this mean?"

Gawain finally recovered from his initial shock. Though the blasphemous words at the temple entrance had left him stunned for a moment, he still remembered the rule that nothing in Sandbox One could be trusted and no conclusions should be drawn lightly. The first thing he did was ask Selena for more information. "Did the previous exploration team not see these words in the city?"

"No, I'm certain of it," Selena said immediately. "The previous team did not have time to investigate the interiors of the city's buildings, but they had already searched the entrance to this temple. If they had truly seen those words, they could not possibly have failed to report them."

"The God is Dead..." Yuri murmured. "This sandbox world was already completely deserted during the last expedition. Who left those words behind?"

"Think of Phantom Town," Magnan muttered. "Completely deserted... perhaps we simply can't see them."

"We should search the temple. What do you think?" Selena asked, turning toward Gawain. Though she and the other two archbishops were the "professionals" of Sandbox One, their specific actions still had to follow Gawain's judgment. After all, they might be facing a god, and in that regard, an Outworld Wanderer was the true expert.

Gawain knew what the Sleepers thought of him. In truth, he did not consider himself a professional at fighting gods—this field was simply too advanced, and he could not imagine what sort of person could offer guidance on godslaying.
