The imperial ruler sat opposite him, a calm smile on his face that Bomayel could not fathom. Lord Bomayel licked his slightly dry lips and honestly answered Rosetta Augustus's questions, but there was ultimately little he could answer with certainty. As a cultist drawn in and converted by knowledge, his rank among The Sleeper Cult was not high. Within that strict and mysterious cult, one's worldly status could not entirely translate into standing within the organization. Or rather, the benefits brought by a mere "lord" were not enough to let him climb into the middle ranks of The Sleeper. A cultist like him knew only a small amount of publicly disclosed information about the Outworld Wanderer.
In fact, it was not until the order for a mass evacuation came down that he learned the Outworld Wanderer had already infiltrated the Mind Network.
Only after the lord had poured out every scrap of intelligence in his stomach did Rosetta Augustus nod slightly. "Not bad, Bomayel. You made the right choice."
Lord Bomayel hurriedly lowered his head. "Y-Yes, Your Majesty."
"But I am still curious why you came to inform on them," Rosetta said, looking at Bomayel with apparent casualness. "You clearly understand the risks involved. Even setting aside the cult's retribution against traitors, you—a Typhonian noble—fell into a Dark Cult. That alone is a grave crime. Yet you came voluntarily to confess everything to me. Why?"
