The dragonkin realized something—although the Holy Dragon Duchy had always considered itself attentive to the changing situation on the continent, believing that it had merely not opened its borders rather than completely isolated itself, the dragonkin were still far too secluded and slow in the face of this rapidly rising new empire.
If the things Gawain Cecil had brought out were placed before the duchy's councilors and elders, they would probably leave more than half of them bewildered and at a loss.
Fortunately, Grand Duke Barrogel had always been thoroughly prepared. At the very least, everyone in the delegation led by Sir Golosh had done plenty of "homework" in advance. They had conducted basic research into the new things emerging across Cecil lands, and they were not entirely unfamiliar with what Gawain had presented.
The documents were distributed to everyone. Sir Golosh swiftly skimmed through part of them, and after gaining a general understanding of their contents, he looked up. "This appears to require serious discussion. I hope you understand—many of these matters are rather sensitive."
"Of course," Gawain said with a smile and a nod. "Today is merely a preliminary meeting, mainly for exchanging ideas. Moreover, all these commercial plans are only Cecil's proposals. Compared to them, establishing stable diplomatic relations between the Holy Dragon Duchy and the Cecil Empire is more important."
Sir Golosh smiled faintly at that. "That is precisely what I think as well."
