Hearing Gawain's question, Beltira nodded. "Yes, just as I described in my report—and I still haven't figured out where those patterned signals came from."
Gawain frowned slightly.
What he and Beltira were discussing had happened not long ago—about a week earlier, the Magic Net in the Sorin Region had completed its regional network. Several major cities on the eastern plains, formerly connected in a linear fashion through Relay Towers, had successfully achieved grid-based distribution of energy and information. Thorinburg, the regional hub, had also completed the conversion of its largest Magic Obelisk that same day, turning it into the area's central hub. The process itself had gone very smoothly, but afterward, several baffling "phenomena" had emerged.
On the third day after the network was completed, Beltira began detecting intermittent patterned signals of unknown origin from the Crystal Array atop the Thorin Giant Tree—signals that did not belong to the Magic Net itself.
Since the Sorin Region's Magic Obelisk had been built atop the Thorin Giant Tree's canopy, with many of its auxiliary facilities constructed around the tree's own structure, Beltira herself was effectively a living Magic Net Hub. Once Gawain realized this, his Technical Personnel reached an agreement with Beltira. She began learning and adapting to the operation of those Magical Devices, and monitoring the Magic Obelisk's signal modules for abnormalities became one of her daily tasks.
—Incidentally, the Sorin Hub was currently the only Magic Net Hub in the empire capable of maintaining itself. Gawain dearly wished he could build more of them, but Beltira's cutting and transplanting techniques were still nowhere near a breakthrough, so such ideas could only remain ideas for now...
After a brief moment of thought, Gawain looked up. "The Technical Personnel still can't decipher the content of those signals?"
"There has been no progress
