A Deal in the Void
Fel Scar Rift was a Burning Legion outpost in the vast Twisted Nether. It consisted of the fragment of a planet that the Burning Legion had completely destroyed. It was not large, only half the size of New York. This was the tragic fate of planets conquered by the Legion. Being able to leave behind even this much land was considered fortunate.
There was no sky here; it was directly exposed to the void. The ground was made of black, icy rock, and lava pools filled with green fel energy were scattered everywhere. Thanks to them, the temperature here was not low.
"No matter how many times I come here, I still have to say this place has an absolutely terrible environment." Evenson appeared abruptly in the area, then looked around. "Good thing I only came here in spirit. Otherwise, I really couldn't stand it."
He was practically a regular here. Ever since he had learned to project his consciousness into the Twisted Nether, he had never gone anywhere else but this place.
This place had been carefully selected by him. It was the rear of the Legion's rear, the edge of its edge. If no one mentioned it, the Legion's higher-ups would hardly even remember it existed. By choosing this place, Evenson could avoid the attention of the Legion's big shots and keep from attracting their notice.
Otherwise, what if he wandered blindly through the Twisted Nether like a headless fly and plunged straight into Kil'jaeden's arms? Did he think those few counterspells prepared in advance would be enough to get away? What a joke.
Unless he was willing to learn from Gul'dan Yanzu and instantly become a traitorous guide, leading the Burning Legion to attack his own world, what awaited him would absolutely be eternal torment.
Though remote, this was still a Legion outpost. Before long, Evenson was surrounded by a group of demon soldiers. However, he did not panic.
This was far from Evenson's first visit. Even if every demon here did not know him personally, they should have at least heard of him. The mad Sorcerer who wanted Gold Coins instead of power was somewhat well-known here. Of course, some also called him the idiot Sorcerer.
"Get out of the way, you filthy scraps! You lowly maggots!" Just then, an angry female voice rang out from behind the demon soldiers. Then a tall female demon walked out from the crowd.
This female demon had pale, delicate skin and a curvaceous figure. She wore an extravagant gown, and her lovely face could not be concealed by the thin veil. But ordinary people would not take much interest in her, because she stood nearly three meters tall and had six arms, each holding a sharp, rune-etched scimitar.
The surrounding demon soldiers were clearly terrified of her and hurriedly moved aside. A few were too slow and received several slashes from her. Yet the wounded demons did not dare resist, merely clutching their wounds as they retreated to the side.
"So it's you, little human." The female demon stopped before Evenson.
"Yep, it's me." Evenson said, "Long time no see, Agatha."
Evenson knew her. Agatha the Doomguard was one of the adjutants to the Grand Lord of Fel Scar Rift. She was also one of Evenson's primary trading partners.
After all, female demons were still women. They would always collect things like gemstones and gold jewelry. Sometimes, she would sell off accessories she had grown tired of, and Evenson was naturally the buyer. That was why they got along rather well. More importantly, Evenson was her only buyer. Without him, her jewelry could only be thrown away as trash.
"This has nothing to do with you. Get lost." Agatha directly dispersed the soldiers surrounding them, then said to Evenson, "What are you here to exchange this time? Gems or gold? Unfortunately, I haven't gotten tired of anything lately, but if the price is high enough, I can still part with some."
"Let's talk about those next time." Evenson interrupted her sales pitch. "Could you take me to see the Lord? I have a deal to make with him."
"Oh? Has our little money-grubbing Sorcerer finally wised up? Are you finally interested in power?" Agatha was not upset that Evenson had refused to buy her gold. As a high-ranking demon, she possessed considerable power besides gold. "If you want power and knowledge, you can come to me too."
"That sounds nice, but this deal can only be made with the Lord." Evenson insisted.
"Fine, follow me." Hearing this, Agatha had no choice but to give up. As a subordinate, it would not be appropriate to openly steal her boss's business.
"You're in such a hurry for power. Did you run into some formidable opponent? Want your big sister here to deal with them personally? I can give you a discount." This time, Agatha was selling herself directly.
"Your appearance fee is too high. I can't afford you." I can barely support the five troublemakers at home. If I add you too, am I supposed to go begging?
The two chatted as they walked. Before long, they arrived at the teleportation platform. Agatha entered the key and transported them directly to the Lord's Hall.
Hailmondas, a Pit Lord with the body of a dragon, a ferocious head, and fel flames burning from the crown of his head all the way down his back, stood towering in the center of the hall.
After arriving, Agatha left. Deals between demons and Sorcerers were highly private affairs, after all. Naturally, Evenson's previous gold transactions did not count.
"What are you doing here, trash?" Hailmondas thundered in the arrogant tone unique to Pit Lords.
"I'm here to make a deal, Lord." Evenson replied neither humbly nor arrogantly. Though he would definitely get crushed in a fight, couldn't he just run if he could not win? There was no need for him to grovel before this creature.
"A deal? I don't have any of the trash you want." The Pit Lord sneered.
"What a coincidence. I'm not here for those things either." Evenson said.
"Then what do you want, trash?" Hailmondas thrust his head, taller than a man, directly in front of Evenson.
Evenson stepped back, avoiding the sparks and foul breath spilling from the Pit Lord's mouth. "Your blood."
Hailmondas raised his head and rubbed his chin with one hand. "Heh heh, that won't come cheap."
Evenson took out a bundle and shook six Soul Crystals from it. "This is all I have. It's my entire stockpile."
Using his enormous palm, Hailmondas laboriously picked up one crystal and sniffed it in front of his nose. "The quality isn't very high." Of course it was not high; these were merely ordinary human souls.
"I don't need much. One cup will be enough." Evenson shrugged. "And I'm the only Sorcerer who comes to this place."
The implication was clear: sell or don't sell, he could always find another place to buy it, but Hailmondas's goods would rot in his hands.
Bang! A massive double-headed spear slammed into the ground almost against Evenson. Purple light immediately flared from Evenson's hand, a sign that his emergency evacuation spell was about to activate.
One could never let down one's guard when dealing with demons. Evenson had prepared his means of escape before coming here. With a single thought, he could immediately return to his own body. This spell was a joke before the Legion's higher-ups, but someone at Hailmondas's level still could not intercept it.
"Sorcerer, you'd better never appear before me in the flesh." Hailmondas threatened viciously. Then he dragged his right hand across the double-headed spear embedded in the ground, and green blood flowed out. Evenson also took out a bottle he had prepared in advance and collected the blood.
"Then our deal is complete, Lord." Evenson immediately activated his spell and returned to his body.
Something came up today and delayed me. Sorry about that. Also, the website promotion is on the twenty-ninth, so there will be extra chapters.
