Fel Five
"Tell me—was that order I just gave a little too cringey?" Evenson stroked his chin as he watched the Fel Five speed away in a cloud of dust, leaving AK-47s scattered all over the ground.
"I come from the Void." As always, Dumen gave the same reply.
"Tch, asking you was pointless anyway. Achoo—" Evenson suddenly sneezed. "Ah, I really am wearing too little. Damn it, I actually forgot about the time difference. Who knew the desert would be this cold before dawn? Let's get back already. I need a hot chocolate right away to warm myself up."
Frozen to the bone, Evenson immediately called Dumen over to head back, but then he remembered something. "Aha, Dumen, clean this place up. Summoning you really was the right choice."
"I come from the Void." That same sentence counted as agreement. Dumen floated off to one side, picked a suitable angle, opened his mouth wide near the ground, and inhaled forcefully. It was like a small whirlwind had sprung up. Everything was sucked into Dumen's mouth in one go. The cleanup was certainly thorough—forget leaving clues behind, even a layer of sand had been eaten away by Dumen.
Seeing this, Evenson unconsciously moved two steps away from Dumen. His mouth twitched continuously, and his expression was utterly awful. If it had to be described in one word, it was disgust.
Evenson had remembered that there might have been scorpions, venomous snakes, lizards, and all sorts of things in that layer of sand. That alone was fine; he could treat it as a nutritional supplement. There were also the automatic rifles and luggage left behind by the search team, as well as the clothes scattered around during the transformation. That was nothing either, since Dumen could digest them. The key was that when they had foamed at the mouth and lost control of their bowels, all that messy stuff had fallen onto the sand too, damn it. And he had just... just eaten it all together?
"I come from the Void." Dumen returned after completing his task. Evenson looked at him and stopped dwelling on it. After all, anything that entered a Voidwalker's stomach was just a pile of shadow elements. There had once been a powerful Void Lord called Diemensius, the Devourer of Worlds, who was said to have devoured an entire world. Who knew how many toilets that world had? He had eaten it all regardless.
"Achoo." Another sneeze. Evenson sniffed and rubbed his arms. "Sarah, Tyler, pull me back quickly." Then there was a flash of red light, and Evenson vanished from where he stood, returning to the basement of the shop.
"Ah, home really is warmer." Evenson comfortably gulped down a large cup of hot water. Hot chocolate was something he could just think about; there was no need to actually drink it.
"Hiss... I feel like we're missing something." After putting down the cup, Evenson felt as if he had forgotten something.
"Sigh, now that you mention it, I feel like there's something missing from the house too." Sarah chimed in from the side.
Master and servant fell into thought at the same time, trying to figure out what exactly was missing.
"I come from the Voi—your mother..." Dumen looked around blankly and realized Evenson had left. He had been abandoned alone in the desert.
"Dumen!!" Sarah and Evenson cried out in unison. His presence was usually so faint that they had forgotten him right after he finished the job.
Evenson hurriedly summoned Dumen back. After nearly being forgotten, the first thing Dumen said upon returning was, "I come from the Void." Though it seemed to be the only sentence he knew, this time it somehow sounded full of grievance. Maybe it was just an illusion. Heh heh.
Destroy all living things. Destroy everything. Never mind whether Evenson's order was cringey or not—the Fel Five carried it out with meticulous dedication. That was what their fel-corrupted brains thought as well.
After wandering through the desert for more than four hours, smashing a cactus, stepping on two scorpions, tearing apart three rattlesnakes, and biting off the heads of five lizards, they finally discovered a worthwhile target. A US Army search team consisting of twenty fully armed special operations soldiers and five Humvees. They immediately howled and charged toward the search team.
"Attention. Five targets are approaching from five hundred meters to the left of the convoy. All units, stay alert." Kobe, the search team's captain, spotted the Fel Five rushing toward them and immediately warned everyone over the radio. The convoy stopped at once. The soldiers manning the vehicle-mounted machine guns immediately swung their barrels around, while the others got out of the vehicles and used the Humvees as cover as they aimed in that direction.
Kobe saw that the Fel Five were still closing in, and at no slow pace. He used a loudspeaker to call out to them. "Stop and submit to inspection, or we will use lethal force. I repeat, stop and submit to inspection, or we will use lethal force."
But the Fel Five did not react at all. Forget that they could not understand English in the first place—even if they could, with their minds now filled with slaughter and destruction, they would not stop.
Very quickly, the distance closed to two hundred meters. At that point, their appearance could be seen clearly with the naked eye: a height of two and a half meters, muscular bodies no normal human could possess, terrifying tattoos, and bone spikes protruding from their arms.
"Oh, what the hell are those things? Stop! I said stop! Damn it, open fire! Open fire now!" Once Kobe saw that they were practically no longer human, he made one final attempt before decisively ordering his men to fire.
"Rat-a-tat-tat! Thud-thud-thud!" The automatic rifles and vehicle-mounted machine guns fired at the same time, their flaming muzzles pouring out a torrent of bullets.
Yet the kind of firepower that could instantly mow down a charging platoon of light infantry only slowed the Fel Five's charge slightly. They raised their thick arms to shield their heads and continued advancing on the convoy.
After all, they had undergone a seventy-percent concentration enhancement. They were even stronger than Howitzer's Rome. Increasing the blood concentration was not simply meant to fry their brains. If he wanted to drive someone insane, Elson had plenty of methods. The reason for doing this was that Evenson felt he probably, perhaps, maybe had no way to prepare the gear he had suggested to Howitzer. So he simply increased the purity of their blood to make them stronger and compensate for their lack of equipment.
Besides, they did not need to withstand a reinforced battalion for an hour. In Evenson's plan, all they needed to do was get spotted by the US Army, be shot dead by them, and leave their corpses behind. How much destruction they caused was irrelevant. If the US Army stationed in Afghanistan could not even deal with these five men, they might as well go home early.
Starting from the next chapter, humans who drink demon blood will collectively be called Felified Humans.
Also, I'll probably finish the third chapter around one o'clock. As for the fourth chapter...
