Behind the bar, Selina looked up at the young wizards gathered together, poured her old friend Slughorn a glass of Honeyduke's, and spoke with considerable feeling.
Albert had become the unquestioned center of the crowd. Only he could bring all the contestants together; not everyone was as skilled with languages as he was, able to communicate smoothly with students from every school.
"I suddenly understand why Dumbledore let Mr. Anderson enter the competition."
Professor Slughorn's words carried undisguised schadenfreude. Some things could be done in secret, but they could not be spoken aloud, much less exposed to the light or laid out in the open.
Every school knew that contestants had cheated throughout the history of the Potions Tournament. It could be said that cheating was a tradition of the Potions Tournament, but no one spoke of it publicly, nor could they. It was enough for everyone to know it in their hearts.
But now, things had turned out differently.
Albert had exposed the whole mess, laying bare the Potions Tournament's shady dealings before the contestants and completely igniting their fury.
If no one had stepped forward, the other contestants might have chosen to swallow their anger, bottling up all their frustration and dissatisfaction. After all, those who dared challenge authority were always few.
But Albert's actions had caught them completely off guard. Even President Bernard had never expected things to develop this way.
Once someone stepped forward to voice their dissatisfaction, naturally the others no longer intended to endure it, especially after learning that President Bernard had already designated his own grandson as the champion of this competition.
That made it even more intolerable.
They were all outstanding talents of the same age. Who among
