He felt that Valeria was trying to stir up trouble.

Catherine did not deny it. She merely glared at Valeria in displeasure, as though saying, It's one thing for you to be in heat yourself. Don't drag me into it.

Isabelle remained calm throughout, completely unbothered by Valeria's little schemes. She had actually noticed long ago that both Valeria and Catherine had feelings for Albert.
