"Greetings" and "building goodwill" were just polite words, surface-level pleasantries.
The Wild Pack was a mercenary group—whether there were jobs to take and money to earn was what Silver Sable really cared about.
Su Quan nodded indignantly. "My influence here is just getting started. Some things I grit my teeth and bear in the moment, but the more I think about it afterward, the angrier I get. I really do need help."
Silver Sable's eyes lit up slightly as she gestured toward the Wild Pack members at the door.
"The Wild Pack has the best reputation in Madripoor and the highest mission completion rate! For your first job, I can give you a twenty percent discount."
"Money's not an issue, as long as you can get the job done."
"Just say it—what do you need us to do?"
Silver Sable was confident, showing no sign that she hadn't taken a job in a long time.
Yes, even though Silver Sable was called the Silver Sable and the Wild Pack was no slouch in strength, they really hadn't had any missions for a while.
Otherwise, why would she bring the Wild Pack to seek him out and pitch themselves?
A truly thriving mercenary group wouldn't show up in full force on a first meeting like this.
Su Quan gave a faint, knowing smile, as if mentioning something trivial. "Simple. Eliminate The Hand."
"No problem—what? You want to take on The Hand?"
Silver Sable, who had been about to agree, heard the name The Hand and her expression immediately fell.

Su Quan acted as if he hadn't noticed Silver Sable's flushed face, earnestly egging her on.
"Yeah, as long as you can wipe out The Hand for me, name your price."
I dare to name the price, but I don't dare take the job.
That's The Hand!
How could she and the Wild Pack possibly eliminate such a powerful, numerous organization?
They weren't even in the same league!
"Fifty million dollars!"
"I'm willing to pay you fifty million dollars, in cash!"
Silver Sable's face flushed even redder—a rosy kind of red.
Fifty million dollars—that was the highest-paying job the Wild Pack had ever seen since its founding.
Too bad she couldn't take it.
Calming herself inwardly, Silver Sable shook her head regretfully. "The Wild Pack doesn't accept any mercenary jobs targeting large organizations or major powers."
Pretty sensible.
These Wild Pack members looked decent enough, but going up against a large organization or a powerful individual? They wouldn't stand a chance.
As for Silver Sable herself—
Though she was called the Valkyrie of Sokovia, with exceptional strength, agility, and reflexes, and mastery of multiple forms of hand-to-hand combat, melee weapons, and sharpshooting...
At best, she was on par with Natasha or Bucky.
If she and the Wild Pack took on the job of eliminating The Hand, Su Quan might as well start planning the funeral feast.
In the comics, Silver Sable had some impressive feats.
Fought The Punisher to a draw.
Teamed up with Spider-Man to take on Rhino, Beetle, Hydro-Man, Boomerang, and Speed Demon.
Captured Hydra's Viper and Baron Strucker alive.
Took down Hammerhead in a few moves, kicked Mockingbird aside, went toe-to-toe with Doom, and worked with the Wild Pack to take down Venom.
At that time, the Wild Pack included Sandman (a Spider-Man villain) and Battlestar (US Agent's partner in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier).
And she once shot a moving target hundreds of meters away with a pistol.
That level of absurdity rivaled Daredevil deflecting bullets with a baton or Kingpin lifting a car.
No ordinary person who debuted in Marvel was truly ordinary.
So, as an ordinary person, she also did something amusing—broke the Fourth Wall and fought the editor!
The Fourth Wall had it rough; too many people were hitting it.
"You could pick another job, like protecting your safety!"
Silver Sable wasn't willing to let this rare opportunity slip away. She couldn't eliminate The Hand for him, but she could protect him from being eliminated by them.
"By 'protect,' do you mean the kind that's up close and personal?" Su Quan asked with a grin.
Silver Sable let out a cold laugh. "Up close and personal? Hah, you've got some nerve."
Su Quan shrugged. "I just don't think you can protect me, even up close and personal."
"You're underestimating my strength." Silver Sable's face darkened. "You can try."
"Already did."
"Did? What did you do? You—"
Silver Sable was about to press further when she suddenly felt a hand grip her shoulder. Her usual vigilance seemed to have failed, making her bristle instantly.
Someone was behind her, and she hadn't noticed at all!
"Who!"
Grabbing the hand on her shoulder, Silver Sable moved to stand and side-kick, but the person behind her had already circled around to her front.
"How is it you! Weren't you across from me—"
Staring at Su Quan, whose wrist she had caught, Silver Sable looked incredulously at the other Su Quan who had just been speaking to her.
He was still there!
There were two Su Quans?
Twins?
Just then, the Su Quan she was watching gradually turned hazy and vanished.
An illusion?!
"See? You can't even get close to me, so how are you supposed to protect me?"
Su Quan sat back down in his previous seat.
Silver Sable blinked, her gaze drifting as she said, "It just hit me—I left water boiling back at the base. You, uh, you can think it over. We're leaving."
With that, without waiting for Su Quan's reply, Silver Sable strode quickly toward the door, calling for the Wild Pack to leave.
But they didn't seem to hear her—
No, it was more like they hadn't seen what happened at all.
They still sat huddled around the table by the door, whispering among themselves, occasionally shooting curious, gossipy looks toward the bar as if watching some juicy drama.
"I said let's go!"
Silver Sable reached out to slap the nearest person, but her hand passed eerily through their body, hitting nothing.
Terror gripped her heart, but she kept her composure. After a few futile attempts, she drew her pistol and spun around, aiming it at Su Quan.
"What did you do to them!"
"Wrong!"
Su Quan shook his head, lightly flicking two fingers together.
In an instant, Silver Sable's gun wrenched itself from her grip, floating eerily in the air and aiming back at her.
"Click!"
The safety clicked off automatically.
"It's not what I did to them—it's what I did to you!"
Su Quan raised his glass in a distant toast.
"Don't worry, I mean no harm. What bad intentions could I have? I just wanted to apologize to you. You—kneel and listen?"

Kneel and listen?
You're apologizing to me, and you want me to kneel?!
Silver Sable slowly bent her knees, lowering herself inch by inch, her arm drifting naturally and lightly toward her leg—
Before you continue
