"Had to choose one?"
"Had to."
"Would the one chosen have to wield the Soul Banner?"
That question truly caught Taiyi off guard.
Following the voice, he looked over.
He saw Tu Shan Jun's meaningful smile, and those calm eyes seemed to have suddenly gained many colors.
Taiyi did not answer. He pondered seriously for a while before speaking. "My junior brother and I wandered through hardship for over a century. It was not easy to build the foundation we have today. I am already satisfied that we have left behind the sect's legacy. If our descendants prove incapable, Junior Brother, decide for yourself." He sighed. "By then, I fear I will have long since passed away."
"Even if we encounter disciples from the former Taiyi Ascension Sect, Junior Brother's identity will remain true."
Taiyi said firmly, "This was the orthodox decision I reported to the heavens in a memorial, recorded in the jade imperial decree. No one can alter Junior Brother's identity."
Back then, the sect had suffered a great catastrophe. Many senior brothers and sisters had been scattered, while he had crossed worlds to the Little Desolate Region to heal his wounds. He had never received any contact, but that did not mean no one had survived.
He did not believe so many powerful cultivators from the sect could all have perished. Perhaps it had been a catastrophe that blotted out the sky and covered the earth for him at the time, but surely there had still been survivors.
Tu Shan Jun fell silent. He did not care about his identity. What he was actually considering was another, more practical concern.
"Senior Brother should know."
"Whoever wields the Soul Banner will, upon death, inevitably enter the banner." Tu Shan Jun looked toward the doors of the great hall.
