Intrusion

Skinny Monkey's condition was not good.

When the city gate caught fire, the fish in the moat suffered.

As dusk approached, school had already let out.

He should have gone home as usual.

His home was in Longrong Ward, a place considered a remote suburb. It was run-down and cramped, narrow and filthy, damp and dark, making it terribly uncomfortable to live in.

The orphanage had only three tiled rooms left, and that included the spacious main hall. But it was still home, the place where he had grown up.

He did not know his origins. Big Sister had told him that one day, when she went out, she found him at the entrance—three years old, poorly clothed, huddled in a corner. Fortunately, he had a name, written on a wooden tag.

It bore the two characters: Hou Feng.

Thus, he took Hou Feng as his name.

Watching Big Sister toil away, he had wanted to grow up quickly and help her. So he had entertained the thought of joining a gang, only to be dissuaded by the instructor.

Actually, it was not the instructor who had stopped him. He had merely had a dream.

Then he woke up.

Now, he had woken up again.

The surroundings were bleak and dim. He seemed to be inside a carriage. He had heard them say that they were being transported to the seaport. Before long, a spirit boat would take off, and then who knew where under heaven and across the seas he would end up.

If he were going to become the young master of a wealthy household, he would have to think it over before refusing. If he were being sold into slavery as a servant, he would have to refuse even more decisively.

He had also heard the schoolteacher
