Background / History

Transmigration and the Dimensional Device

Xiu Er awakens in the war-torn world of Game Life Zero after transmigrating from Earth. Though retaining human memories and personality, Xiu Er inhabits an isolated combat-type Mecha-Kai body and considers themself an outcast due to possessing a “heart.” 1

After finding a dead transmigrator, Xiu Er extracts and binds the corpse's System. The System adapts to their mechanical physiology, installs a golden rhomboid Dimensional Device beside the Mecha-Kai core, and grants interdimensional travel. 1 2

Date A Live World

Xiu Er travels to the Date A Live world to analyze and replicate Spirits' Angels, intending to build enough power to survive future worlds. Their first successful replication is Tohka Yatogami's Gokurokugai, reconstructed as a weaker Pseudo-Codex armament. 3 5

Over roughly three months, Xiu Er systematically confronts Spirits and gathers Angel data. Notable encounters include Yoshino, Natsumi, Kurumi, the Yamai Sisters, Nia Honjou, Miku Izayoi, and Hoshimiya Mukuro. Xiu Er ultimately leaves with the Spirit-series armaments stored in the Weapon Vault. 6 8 15 22 27

Magic World and Disciples

In a later fantasy world, Xiu Er learns local languages, investigates magic, and begins using magical abilities alongside Mecha-Kai armaments. They encounter Takuson, initially reject him as too weak to travel with them, then later become his teacher. 29 36 43

Xiu Er also becomes an important figure to Volumen, who comes to regard them as a teacher. Alongside Takuson and Volumen, Xiu Er confronts demons, collects magical knowledge, creates magical monsters, and participates in the campaign against the Demon King's forces. 52 62 77 82

Holy Grail War and Chaldea

Xiu Er enters a Holy Grail War world, dispatching multiple clones to gather data and confront Servants. They battle opponents including Mordred, Astolfo, Vlad III, Achilles, Atalante, and Amakusa Shirou Tokisada, treating many encounters as opportunities to collect combat information and reproduce Noble Phantasms. 95 108 122 124 127 131

After meeting Fujimaru Ritsuka, Xiu Er explains that the Singularity was not intentionally created and offers assistance in exchange for access to Servant powers. Chaldea accepts the alliance after Xiu Er restores communications with its staff and guarantees the captured Masters' safety. 154 155 156 157

At Chaldea, Xiu Er gradually adapts to social rules and accepts restrictions on their access to sensitive areas. They heal Mashu's condition through time-reversal, postponing it by three years, and later assist the group through the Sixth Singularity. 161 162 174 194

Magical Girl World

After another dimensional transfer, Xiu Er arrives in a futuristic city where the Codex of the Whispers is only five percent functional. They investigate Kyubey and the city's Magical Girls but decline Kyubey's offer to become a Magical Girl. 267 268 269

While waiting for the System's mission, Xiu Er accepts work at Kobayashi Yuko's restaurant to experience ordinary human life and better understand emotions. They also begin cautious negotiations with Homura Akemi through a reconnaissance drone. 270 273 277

Xiu Er has the petite, doll-like appearance of a young girl, though their body is an exposed Mecha-Kai chassis rather than a human body. Their usual expression is cold and nearly motionless. 1 130

Personality

Xiu Er presents themself as a detached machine, speaking in clipped phrases such as “Query,” “Affirmative,” and “Negation.” Even when internally startled or excited, their voice and expression remain unusually calm. 1 3

Their decisions are strongly results-oriented. Xiu Er studies opponents, calculates contingencies, and treats battle as a means of gathering data and acquiring useful armaments. They can be ruthless when information or a goal is at stake, as shown by their treatment of Aura and their ambush of Miku. 15 82

Despite this detachment, Xiu Er retains human memories, curiosity, and an emerging capacity for emotional understanding. They avoid harming uninvolved civilians, release defeated AST members after obtaining the needed data, heal Yoshino after injuring her, and later accept social correction from Chaldea's staff. 10 15 17 161

Xiu Er is especially curious about emotions they cannot easily quantify. They are intrigued by Shido's anger, experience fear before an unknown temple presence, and take restaurant work specifically to understand human life more directly. 17 216 270
