A Small Goal

Early the next morning, Noah climbed out of bed feeling refreshed.

Although Noah had spent the entire night reading in the System Library and condensing magic power, his body really had been resting. Reading during the first half of the night and meditating during the second half had left his mental state unusually good as well.

"It's just far too little. I hope I can get the time in my System Space to double soon."

Noah washed up simply, and his roommates got up one after another as well.

Today was the first day of classes, and no one really dared to be late. Who wouldn't want to leave a slightly better impression on their teachers on the very first day?

Well, perhaps except for the famous Mr. Potter?

Noah remembered that Harry Potter and Ron Weasley had been late on the very first day of class!

As for the reason, it was probably because Harry Potter had been far too excited, ended up unable to sleep all night, and then very unluckily dragged Ron down with him.

Even more unfortunately, although the several Heads of Houses at Hogwarts cared a great deal about their own Houses winning the competition, none of them would deliberately trip up other Houses, let alone intentionally treat them differently.

At the same time, they would not deliberately cover up the mistakes their own students made either, so Harry and Ron had been harshly dealt with by their Head of House, Professor McGonagall, and had even had quite a few points deducted because of it.

The content of History of Magic was basically learning about the history of the magical world. This material was relatively dull, but Noah listened with great interest.

Being familiar with the history of a world was very helpful to Noah, especially since he was an outsider.

If he had to talk about future events, he could probably say quite a lot, but if he were asked to evaluate past events, he would most likely be completely lost.

Besides, Noah felt that for a wizard, possessing superb magical skills, profound magic power, and extensive knowledge was what made one a qualified wizard.

Noah did not want to be an idiot wizard. If he really turned into that, it would be a little too frustrating.

Over the course of the class, Noah was extremely focused, and he also discovered, rather magically, that his memory seemed to have become even better than before.

Today's lesson was about the history of the Goblin Rebellions. Basically, after Noah read through the book once and listened to the professor explain it a few times in class, he had more or less memorized all of the content completely!

That was something Noah had not expected.

"Could it be a benefit from the system? Or is it a special ability that comes naturally after becoming a wizard?"

Noah scratched his head, and he quickly attributed this ability to the system.

Just look at Harry and Ron. They had also become wizards, but their coursework was absolutely terrible. If not for Hermione's help, graduating would probably have been a problem for them.

"Damn it, History of Magic is just like Berlin's slugs, stinky and long. The worst part is, I actually have to memorize all of it!"

As soon as class ended, the people from their dorm gathered together, and Evan immediately started complaining.

To be honest, History of Magic was indeed not that likable. One only had to look at the somewhat vacant expressions on the faces of the Hufflepuff students to know that.

"All right, stop complaining, Evan. This is a compulsory course. What's the use of complaining so much? In the end, I dare bet you'll definitely memorize it very well."

Luns smiled indifferently. Complaining was one thing, but Ravenclaw students would not stop studying just because they complained.

A thirst for knowledge and extensive learning were the symbols of Ravenclaw. If they could not even deal with these things, then they really had neither the qualifications nor the need to stay in Ravenclaw.

"Noah, how did it feel? Your first class?" Kate turned to look at Noah. In their dorm, only Noah was Muggle-born, so they were all quite concerned about him.

"Don't worry. These things are pretty simple for me, aren't they?" Noah smiled. They were indeed quite simple. He had already memorized all of it, but he did not say that much.

The group chatted casually and was about to leave the classroom, only to run head-on into Harry and Ron, both wearing ugly expressions.

Noah's dormmates all had a fairly deep impression of those two. There was no helping it—Harry was simply too famous, while Ron had been directly regarded as Harry's little follower.

"What's with the looks on those two?" Evan looked at them strangely. Acting like this on the first day of school?

"They probably made a mistake. Who knows with them." Noah spoke indifferently. Even if he knew, he would not say it.

Thinking back to the timetable, the afternoon class seemed to be Transfiguration, which was Professor McGonagall's course.

Transfiguration was the branch of magic that changed the shape or appearance of a target, and that was also what this course introduced.

Transfiguration was a theory-based subject. The spells taught included the Switching Spell—transforming part of a target, such as making someone grow rabbit ears; the Vanishing Spell—making a target disappear completely; and the Conjuring Spell—making a target appear out of thin air, and so on.

After these kinds of spells reached a high level, they could turn inanimate objects into living objects, and the reverse was also true!

It could be called an extremely powerful kind of magic, and Noah was very interested in this type of magic.

As for the Animagus variant that came from this magic, Noah was not that interested. He had no idea what he would turn into, and if he ended up like Sirius Black and became a dog, that would not be much fun.

"If I turned into a dragon or something, that might be a lot better. But it seems that in this kind of Western world, dragons aren't exactly anything good."

Noah scratched his head, then followed his roommates, ate a little something casually, and returned to the room.

To Noah, this kind of simple life really reminded him quite a bit of when he had still been a student.

And compared with other transmigrators, Noah also felt that his little life was rather monotonous and peaceful. At least he had not caused too many inexplicable incidents.

This was a good thing for Noah. He did not want to keep causing trouble for no reason.

"I'm not Harry Potter. That much trouble has no meaning for me. Study hard first. As for everything else, I'll talk about it once I have strength in the future."

Noah thought silently, then flopped headfirst onto the bed and closed his eyes. Very soon, he once again entered the System Library.

Looking at the dazzling array of books, Noah sighed. The road he had to walk truly carried a heavy burden and a long way to go.

Noah picked up a book, sat down, and began reading properly. He decided to read first, then go cultivate his magic power.

He had long since set a goal for himself, which was to at least reach first-rank level before the end of the first semester.

"That requirement isn't too high, right? If I work hard, it should be no problem."
