Background

Da Huang was a yellow-haired stray dog accompanying Lin Sheng during the chaos in Yangping Town. While other animals were driven mad, it reacted in terror to the descending black mist and tried to flee, alerting Lin Sheng to the danger before he noticed it himself. Lin Sheng subsequently learned that Da Huang had awakened a trace of the Di Wen Dog bloodline after repeatedly stealing and eating Spirit Beast jerky and scraps. 93 94 95

In Tongzhi County, Da Huang retrieved a bloodstained scrap of cloth connected to Xiao Shi's attackers, then led Lin Sheng out of the county and directly to the bandits' camp. Its ability to retain and follow a scent across such a distance convinced Lin Sheng that its Perception was heavily concentrated in its sense of smell. 103

After settling in Wanhua City, Da Huang became the leader of a local pack of domestic and stray dogs, whose instinctive fear of its bloodline gave it unexpected authority. Lin Sheng later began deliberately improving its diet with high-grade beast meat, Spirit Beast flesh, and Blood Cultivating Pills in hopes of developing its Di Wen Dog bloodline further. 142 145

Da Huang's growth accelerated after consuming Blood Summoning Pill powder. It entered the Spirit Beast rank and developed glossy yellow fur, a long tail, and enlarged ears marked in black and white. Despite this caution, Da Huang is greedy for food, especially Spirit Beast meat, jerky, pills, and anything carrying a rich scent of blood or medicinal energy.
