Background

Raiden Mei was the daughter of ME Corp president Raiden Ryoma and once held unmatched status at Chiyou Academy. Wealth, elite education, personal excellence, and popularity earned her the title “Queen Raiden.” 2

Her life collapsed when Ryoma was accused of financial fraud and imprisoned. The classmates who had once surrounded her abandoned and bullied her, leaving Mei exhausted, isolated, and ashamed despite believing her father had been framed. 2 4

Bai Ge was the first classmate to openly oppose the bullying. His protection, willingness to call her simply “Mei,” and later public claim that she was his girlfriend gave her the support to recover from despair. 3 5 6 7 Kiana Kaslana subsequently became Mei’s close friend and another defender against the harassment. 7

Mei’s Stigmata had been awakening since childhood and was harming her health. To suppress it, Ryoma accepted Cocolia’s “Project Mei,” implanting the Conquest Gem in Mei to seal the Stigmata. The procedure restored Mei’s health, but it also served Cocolia’s plan to drive her into despair and create the Third Herrscher. 12

Appearance

Mei has long purple hair, light-purple eyes, and a refined appearance that initially made her one of Chiyou Academy’s most admired students. During the period of bullying, her eyes were dull with fatigue and sadness, often marked by tears. 2

Personality

Mei is kind-hearted, serious, and initially gentle to the point of self-effacement. Her strict upbringing and the trauma of her father’s arrest and school bullying leave her hesitant, lonely, and desperate for ordinary peace with the people she loves. 2 6 15

When Bai Ge and Kiana are threatened, Mei reacts with fierce resolve, refusing to tolerate harm to the people who saved her even when she once endured abuse directed at herself. 15 16 She steadily grows into someone who seeks power not for status, but to protect Bai Ge and stand at his side. 101 615 728

Mei later recognizes that the restrained “housewife” persona she developed after bullying is only one part of her. Her underlying nature is the confident, possessive, and commanding Queen Raiden—the girl whose pride and desire to conquer earned her title long before she became a Herrscher. 774

Cocolia’s operatives kidnap Mei, destroy Bai Ge’s headphones, and threaten Bai Ge and Kiana to force her into despair. Mei awakens as the Herrscher of Thunder, but her Stigmata consciousness ultimately rejects Honkai’s mission and prevents the eruption. 15 16 18

Third Honkai Eruption

Mei deliberately reawakens as the complete Herrscher of Thunder through a high-concentration Honkai crystal. Rather than destroy humanity, she accepts Bai Ge’s love, protects him, and ends the Third Honkai by exterminating its remaining beasts. 91 93 94
