Matt was rescued, but he still wasn't out of danger and was being observed in the intensive care unit.
Schiller said to Strange, "Dr. Strange, consider it a favor owed. If you ever need help in the future, you can come to me."
Strange's complexion wasn't good. After all, he had been captured that afternoon and had been performing surgery for nearly ten hours straight. He said impatiently, "God bless me, don't let me see you again, freak."
Schiller replied, "I believe you've already witnessed my abilities. So, here's an additional piece of advice: be careful when you drive."
Strange said, "Don't play these weird mind games with me. I'm going back to sleep."
With that, he left. Schiller shrugged, knowing he couldn't change Doctor Strange's fate. In Strange's current state, he wouldn't listen to anything.
But it didn't matter. When the time came for him to beg for help to heal his arm injury, he would naturally think of Schiller.
After returning to the clinic and getting a good night's sleep, Schiller woke up to find he had gained two more random chat opportunities. This meant he had significantly impacted two more important characters in the plot. One should be Daredevil, Matt, and the other should be Spider-Man.
Schiller decided to use one opportunity. Right now, his abilities desperately needed strengthening. Having witnessed Matt's accident, he felt his defense and evasion abilities were still not strong enough, especially his reaction speed. Even with his flash ability, he couldn't guarantee he could react within a fraction of a second. Relying on the unreliable Spider-Sense was out of the question.
So, Schiller opened the chat system and used a random chat.
Soon, his chat partner arrived. Strangely, the avatar this time was a bit peculiar. The avatar frame was completely black, with only two glowing eyes visible.
As soon as the communication connected, Schiller heard a string of languages he couldn't understand from the other side.
Previously, all his chat partners had spoken English. Even the Ancient One communicated directly with him through telepathy, making her meaning easy to understand.
But this time, his chat partner was babbling away, and Schiller couldn't understand a single word.
He typed to the system, "Can't the chat system translate? What language is the other party speaking?"
Due to his past life experiences, Schiller had visited and exchanged ideas at various universities. Besides English and Chinese, he knew a little of some European languages. However, the other party's language seemed entirely unrelated to any of these. Schiller had never heard such a language before.
The system replied with a line: "The chat system automatically translates any language of the chat partner. If there is still content that cannot be understood, it means there is a difference in life form between the host and the other party, or understanding the other party's language requires a special brain organ."
Schiller understood immediately. The other party was definitely not human. The string of unintelligible sounds he emitted might require a specific brain organ to receive and wasn't language, but more like a signal. Schiller was human and likely lacked this brain organ of their species, making him unable to understand what was being said.
Schiller clicked on the avatar and saw that it clearly displayed a few words: Knull, God of the Symbiotes.
He hadn't expected this random connection to reach Knull.
The God of the Symbiotes was introduced in detail in the Venom series comics. Simply put, he was an ancient being that existed since the dawn of the universe, the Lord of the Abyss. He forged a weapon called the Black Death Sword, decapitated a Celestial, and then began wreaking havoc on other civilizations across the universe.
He researched methods to create dark creatures, which was to split off symbiotes. He led his symbiote armies and his created dragon legions, rampaging through the universe unchecked.
Until one day, he ordered the symbiote legions to attack Earth. Thor struck him with a lightning bolt, disorienting him and severing his connection with most of the symbiotes he had created.
Most symbiotes scattered across the universe, possessing various life forms. Many of them were kind and rational aliens. This made the symbiotes realize that their creator's civilization-destroying actions were evil, and they collectively rebelled.
After the rebellion, the symbiotes imprisoned their creator, Knull, the God of the Symbiotes, on a remote and desolate planet, the so-called Symbiote Homeworld.
Schiller didn't rush to use his next chat opportunity. Instead, he became engrossed in studying what Knull was saying.
Ever since the connection began, Knull had been talking at length, sending rapid syllables whose meaning was completely incomprehensible.
The setting here was more reasonable. It wasn't like in the comics where the entire universe spoke English. Knull, the God of the Symbiotes, spoke words that Schiller couldn't understand at all. But Knull kept talking at length, and Schiller actually managed to find some patterns.
After repeated confirmation, Schiller finally understood what the God of the Symbiotes was trying to convey: he was cursing.
That's right. Although the entire universe didn't speak English, the tone of every creature in the universe when cursing was basically the same, and certain curse words appeared frequently. The God of the Symbiotes was just like that.
Hearing Knull's furious tone repeatedly utter a syllable, "Nattaru," Schiller guessed it was a curse word similar to the F-word in the symbiote language.
So, when the God of the Symbiotes finished another long rant, Schiller casually said, "Nattaru."
The other side fell into an eerie silence.
After cursing for so many years, the God of the Symbiotes was cursed back for the first time.
Schiller's guess was spot on. That word was indeed a curse word in the God of the Symbiotes' language. The God of the Symbiotes retaliated with a string of even angrier language, but Schiller remained nonchalant, simply replying, "Nattaru."
After hearing it so many times, Schiller even learned a few other curse words, even mimicking the trills and pronunciations perfectly.
The God of the Symbiotes continuously sent long speeches, and Schiller would often pick a few of these words to curse back.
After all, the God of the Symbiotes couldn't come through the internet to hit him. What did it matter if he was the Lord of the Abyss or had killed Celestials?
While he was cursing with the God of the Symbiotes, he recalled the origin story of this ancient being.
The God of the Symbiotes was quite unlucky. Regardless of good or evil, his own spawn rebelled, imprisoned him, and then imprisoned their creator alone on a planet. And from what Schiller could see now, it had been a long time.
It wasn't hard to understand why he was cursing. If Schiller were in his place, he would curse too.
Then, Schiller began to study how to replicate the God of the Symbiotes' abilities, but he hesitated a bit. He estimated that the God of the Symbiotes' ability was to create symbiotes, but Schiller didn't want that ability.
He clicked on the avatar and found that the four words for replicating abilities had turned red, with a parenthesis next to them stating: "The other party's abilities are mutating. Copy with caution."
This was the first time Schiller had encountered such a phenomenon.
This all went back to the origin story of the God of the Symbiotes.
After being imprisoned, the God of the Symbiotes wasn't idle. Of course, he tried to find ways to escape. Schiller arrived at just the right time. It hadn't been long since the God of the Symbiotes devised this method before Schiller connected with him.
The God of the Symbiotes was a very ancient being. While it couldn't be confirmed if he was the first being in the Seventh Universe, he was definitely among the first few.
His power came more from his talent. His brain wasn't actually very useful. The method he thought of to escape wasn't through intelligence but by utilizing his unique nature. Schiller hadn't read much of this part of the comics in his past life, but he knew that the symbiotes created by the God of the Symbiotes had different abilities; some were strong, and some were weak.
Some symbiote offspring also possessed special abilities. The God of the Symbiotes intended to use this characteristic. He planned to create a special symbiote, intending for this offspring he split off to have no physical form but to become a sentient wisp of smoke. When he transferred his consciousness into this offspring, he could break free from the planet's confinement.
Honestly, this wasn't a very clever method, and it might not even allow him to escape. But the God of the Symbiotes was imprisoned on a lonely planet, so what else could he do to pass the time? Therefore, his daily routine consisted of only two things: cursing and breeding.
As he created this new offspring and prepared to transfer his consciousness, Schiller connected with him. This is why the Symbiote God's abilities were in flux during the mutation; he was transferring his consciousness into the new body, and his powers were becoming the new body's abilities.
Generally, if it were a connected entity like the Symbiote God, Schiller would have almost no way to replicate its abilities, much like a spider before it was bitten. The Symbiote God's original power in cosmic battles relied on the potent, living Black Death Sword. Later, his ability to split into dark creatures stemmed from his innate nature; it was a power that emerged suddenly after his defeat and fall, with no discernible origin.
These were things Schiller couldn't replicate. Even if he could, he wouldn't. Why would he want to slice himself into pieces? What's more, there was a high chance these scattered fragments would unite and betray him – it was simply too unreliable.
Therefore, Schiller unhesitatingly chose to replicate the ability that was currently mutating. If this ability was related to invisibility or damage evasion, Schiller would make a massive profit. Even if it granted him significant strength like Venom, or the ability to transform into something akin to a battle suit, that would also be excellent.
"Symbiote Grey Mist (Special Ability) Loaded."
In an instant, Schiller felt as if he had gained another perspective. He was still using his own eyes, but they weren't controlled by him. The signals received from his eyes were still transmitted to his brain.
It was as if he had directly copied a symbiote.
No, it seemed slightly different. The ability copied by the system brought no external components to Schiller; it couldn't replicate the opponent's equipment or other physical objects.
For example, if Schiller were to copy Iron Man's abilities, he might gain Stark's genius intellect or his ability to develop equipment, but he wouldn't receive a finished product like the Mark V armor.
The system could only copy the abilities of the chat target themselves, not anything external to them.
Schiller felt as if a nascent soul had been inserted into his body. But it wasn't an external entity; it remained a part of him. That symbiote hadn't become something that could be detached from its host at will like Venom. Instead, it had become a part of Schiller.
Simply put, it became an ability loaded by the system into Schiller, becoming a part of him, just like the other abilities he had gained from the system. It couldn't be separated from Schiller. If Schiller died, it would perish as well; it couldn't escape, let alone find a second host.
However, it also possessed some characteristics of a symbiote. For instance, it could think. Schiller could feel that a section of his brain had been altered. The symbiote had become an organ within his brain, and their communication was more akin to a dialogue between one personality and another.
This symbiote was indeed very special. Schiller would later understand that the Symbiote God had incorporated even more ambitions when creating it.
After being copied by the system, the system further modified the symbiote to integrate its characteristics with those of the system-loaded abilities. This resulted in a life form that was perhaps unique throughout the universe, and an incredibly powerful one at that.
