Temporary Tenant

Fran looked the same as ever, wearing a T-shirt printed with cartoon pumpkins, knee-length shorts, and straw sandals.

With his pumpkin head held high, he stood before the green gate and gently hooked the doorbell with his little finger.

He did not ring it.

It looked more like he was communicating with something.

At that moment, Luo Di suddenly realized something. That doorbell, shaped like a shriveled finger, might really have been the so-called landlord's finger.

He had touched it earlier, yet failed to identify it at all.

Thinking back carefully,

it really had seemed as though he were hooking fingers with someone.

This was not ringing a doorbell at all. It was a ritual every guest had to undergo before entering, or perhaps a means of verifying their identity.

Fran released the finger and turned his round pumpkin head around.

"The landlord allows you to look around. He also asked whether you need a place to stay for the night. Since you're members of Vortex Town, you can enjoy one day of free lodging."

Luo Di asked in return, "Fran, do you think it's appropriate for us to stay the night?"

"Although this is the first time I've seen the landlord let creatures other than Green Gate Monsters stay here, it shouldn't be a problem. After all, the entire hotel moved to Vortex Town. It's only natural for some changes to be made.

"Besides, Luo Di, you touched the doorbell just now. The landlord probably knows what kind of person you are."
