After Cao Yi received the news, he rushed to the command tent at once. Seeing Ranxi emerge, he immediately stepped forward to support her unsteady figure.
Yunxi waved a hand. "It's nothing. Take me back. I need to heal."
"Yes."
Cao Yi immediately escorted Yunxi back to the Spirit Realm cultivators' encampment. He watched her enter her tent and activate the restriction, but did not leave. Instead, he sat cross-legged outside the tent to stand guard for Yunxi.
A quarter of an hour later, Han Lian hurried to Yunxi's tent. Upon seeing Cao Yi, she asked, "Is Venerable Ran Xi all right?"
Cao Yi frowned. "The Venerable seems to be injured. Her energy has been severely depleted, and even her aura is somewhat unstable. I just brought her back."
Han Lian's heart tightened at once. "Did the mission to retrieve the immortal bone not go smoothly?"
Even from within the encampment, she had seen the Dharma Heaven Dharma Earth wielded by Master Ruohuai. At the time, her heart had lurched with a bad premonition.
Cao Yi still shook his head. "I don't know. The Venerable did not mention the mission. She only told me to bring her back to heal."
Han Lian was injured as well, but she could not settle down to heal if she returned now. So she simply sat cross-legged beside Cao Yi. "I'll stand guard for the Venerable with you."
The two then meditated in silence, quietly waiting for Yunxi to emerge from seclusion.
Meanwhile, unburdened by their baggage, Ruohuai fled at great speed. Even so, the pursuing Evil Venerable blocked his path.
The black-robed Evil Venerable stared at Ruohuai with a cold expression. "You old bald donkey, you dare cause trouble on my turf!"
