Since everything related to Magecraft had to remain mysterious, there were no modern lighting fixtures anywhere in the basement. The candle she carried was the only source of light.
Before long, young Rin found a huge, ancient book on the innermost bookshelf. She eagerly opened it, ready to begin reading.
But the instant she turned to the first page, her little face fell. "I-I can't understand any of it!"
