Outside the Endless Storm.
Two slender figures with wings growing from their backs paced back and forth beyond the barrier sealing off the entire realm, as though they were carefully inspecting something.
Judging by their appearance, aside from the wings on their backs and a few unusual traits, the two of them could be said to closely resemble human women.
Yet they possessed something no mortal race had.
It was a trait akin to that of gods—divinity.
Because of its existence, they exuded an unmistakable air of transcendent otherworldliness simply by standing there.
Beyond merely enhancing their bearing, that trait also signified that their level of life was above that of mortal races.
They were a special race known as the Goddess of War.
Beings who dwelled in Asgard, the Large Realm at the very top of the World Tree!
As one of the oldest races in the entire World Tree.
Their history even predated that of the Scoti Pantheon, the World Tree's current rulers. Only those ancient Cosmic Beings born from the first batch of fruit evolved by the World Tree came before them.
Coupled with their inborn mission and formidable power, even the Scoti Pantheon would not provoke them lightly!
One of the greatest characteristics of the special race known as the Goddess of War was that they always traveled in pairs. Each team consisted of a Life Shepherd and her corresponding Death Reaper.
Among them, the Life Shepherd was responsible for sending the souls of brave warriors, heroes, sages... after death, to the Hall of Valor in Asgard.
It was a special place without fatigue or troubles.
Souls acknowledged by the Goddesses of War would ascend there as heroic spirits. They would then endlessly hone their skills and feast on fine food, living wonderful lives like something
