Spending this time proving that a research path was unworkable was valuable; at the very least, it had redirected humanity's scientists toward other avenues of research.

Humanity had to find a way to extract Negative Energy, study its properties, and thereby catch traces of the Theory of Everything.

Beneath the highly popular "mirror" experiments lay a path that scientists had previously disdained: the plain, unremarkable high-energy laser beam. It now seemed to have become humanity's last hope.

One theory proposed that laser energy states contained a "compressed state" in which Positive Energy and Negative Energy coexisted. Of course, not just any laser would do; it had to be a laser in a particularly high-energy state.

However, this state was extremely difficult to manipulate. For present-day humanity, it was even harder than accelerating a massive object to near-light speed.

It was very difficult to manipulate.

According to the data from this theory, a typical Negative Energy pulse could last only 10^-15 seconds—one quadrillionth of a second—before being swallowed by a Positive Energy pulse.

The theory stated that while separating the Positive Energy state from the Negative Energy state was extraordinarily difficult, it was possible.

However, it presented two difficulties. The first was determining what kind of Laser Compressed State met the requirements; the second was separating the Positive Energy and Negative Energy within that Laser Compressed State.

The former required immense resources and time for research, while the latter required humanity to possess the corresponding technology. Neither could be lacking.

Humanity's scientists were now working hard to find the answer. In laboratories, they were testing various materials and high-intensity lasers in an attempt to find suitable optical materials.

The theory held that when a powerful laser pulse struck a special optical material, it produced numerous photon pairs in its wake. These
