Background / History
The Xiao Clan was one of Wu Tan City's Three Great Families, alongside the Gale and Ouba families. Before its conflict with the Gale Family, the three maintained a balance of power 58. Accounts of the Gamma Empire's past also describe an earlier, powerful Xiao Clan, and the Wu Tan City clan's ancestors were said to have arrived in the empire with considerable strength 180 220.
The clan adopted the orphan Feng Wu years before his first cultivation test. Xiao Yu took him in as her younger brother, and he earned money working in the clan kitchen 1 9. Though he does not bear the Xiao surname, Feng Wu considers the clan his family and later makes protecting it a reason to pursue strength 8.
Organization and Strength
- Leadership — Xiao Zhan is clan leader. The Great Elder, Second Elder, and Third Elder also hold authority; the Great Elder's branch includes Xiao Yu and Xiao Ning, with Feng Wu treated as an adopted son 82 92 102.
- Senior fighters — Xiao Zhan and the three elders are Great Dou Shi. A fifth Great Dou Shi, the old man guarding the Dou Qi Pavilion, keeps his strength hidden; he is a One-Star Great Dou Shi when Feng Wu discovers him 81 99.
- Dou Qi Pavilion — Juniors who pass the Coming of Age Ceremony test receive an opportunity to select a cultivation method. Higher-ranked methods require demonstrated value and contributions to the clan 99.
- Cultivation methods — Xiao Zhan acquires the Profound Rank High Grade Wind Scroll Skill at auction. Feng Wu later negotiates for Xiao Ning to study it and offers a Profound Rank fire-element technique to address a gap in the pavilion's collection 21 100.
Relationships
- Feng Wu — Adopted member and alchemist. He supplies pills that help the clan compete commercially, then leaves enough stock for roughly a year of normal market sales before his departure 102 108.
- Xiao Yan — Xiao Zhan's son. His recovery in cultivation brings renewed attention to his branch, but his Coming of Age challenge against Xiao Ning intensifies competition with the Great Elder's faction 92 94 98.
- Gale Family — Commercial rival that later attacks the Xiao Clan to capture Feng Wu. The clan defeats the assault and eliminates the remaining Gale Family members 101 103 105.
- Ouba Family — Former rival among the Three Great Families. After the Gale Family falls, Ouba Pa chooses to relocate rather than submit to Xiao Zhan 58 105.

Major Arcs
Cultivation tests and Coming of Age Ceremony
The clan tests its juniors with a Magic Stone Tablet. Feng Wu initially records five stages of Dou Qi, while Xiao Mei reaches seven and Xiao Xun'er nine; Xiao Yan's result is three stages 1. At a later test, Feng Wu gives Xiao Ning Qi Gathering Powder, enabling him to break through to Dou Zhe. Feng Wu displays Two-Star Dou Zhe strength, though his actual cultivation is higher 92.
At the Coming of Age Ceremony, Xiao Yan reaches One-Star Dou Zhe and challenges Xiao Ning. Feng Wu aids Xiao Ning, then fights and defeats Xiao Yan after Xiao Ning is injured 94 96 98.
Commercial war and control of Wu Tan City
The Gale Family hires a Rank 1 Alchemist and draws business away from the Xiao Clan's markets 101. Feng Wu responds with a large supply of pills. Their variety and quality reverse the commercial pressure, while the Ouba Family begins buying Xiao Clan pills to keep its own marketplace operating 102 103.
The Gale Family then raids the Xiao Clan. Xiao Zhan and two elders confront Gale Nu at the gate, while Gale Bi enters the estate to target Feng Wu; the Great Elder and the pavilion guardian help defeat him 103 104. After the Gale Family's fall and the Ouba Family's decision to leave, the Xiao Clan stands as Wu Tan City's dominant family 105.
Arrangements after Feng Wu's departure
Before leaving, Feng Wu gives the Great Elder enough pills to support about a year of normal sales, intending to give the clan time to secure its expanded market share 108. Later, he openly identifies himself with the Xiao Clan while negotiating with Mu Chen, seeking protection for it in his absence 220.
