Background / History
Dragon leads the Revolutionary Army in opposition to the World Government. Before the World Conference, he led the Army in overthrowing a kingdom’s royalty and publicly declaring war on the Government, establishing his reputation as the world’s most dangerous criminal 207.
During the Celestial Dragon kidnapping incident, Dragon fought Lowett and CP0’s Owl. He used his wind powers and battlefield knowledge to pressure Lowett, but was incapacitated by the forbidden curse Azathoth’s Melody before surviving it through extreme pain and Conqueror’s Haki 124 126 127. He was subsequently captured, interrogated, and injured by Lowett, yet remained defiant and hinted that the World Government contained internal moles 130 131.
Dragon later appeared on Sabaody Archipelago to protect Revolutionary Army personnel. Although heavily wounded in a clash with Admiral Kizaru, he escaped after the Government prioritized recovering the kidnapped Saint Charlos. The event brought unprecedented attention to the Revolutionary Army and sparked rebellions across affiliated nations 132.
He met Lowett again on Phone Island, where he revealed that the Revolutionary Army had been deceived by the Navy regarding a jewel shipment. He also disclosed that the Army possessed a list of Government spies, informants, and traitors, before being attacked by Owl 238 239.
Seeking a means to counter the World Government’s pursuit of Ancient Weapons, Dragon led the Revolutionary Army to the ruins of Tokbagu. With Nico Robin’s help, he investigated a Poneglyph and disclosed his intent to locate Pluton before the Government could obtain it 313. During the Water 7 operation, he remained behind to enable Sabo and the Revolutionary Army to retreat, leading to his reported capture by Aokiji and Akainu 327.
Appearance
Dragon is described as a fierce-faced man who commonly wears a cloak during combat 124.
- His expression remains notably composed even during hostile negotiations and battle 239.
- After his capture, he was held in a prisoner’s uniform, unshaven and disheveled 373.
Personality
Dragon is strategic, resolute, and willing to take personal risks for the Revolutionary Army. He remains calm under pressure, rapidly assesses enemy plans, and gives decisive orders when his subordinates’ survival is at stake 120 327.
He is also uncompromising toward the World Government. Even while captured and threatened with death, he refused to yield and used his knowledge of internal Government instability to challenge Lowett 131. However, his methods can be morally contentious: Issho rejected the Revolutionary Army after concluding that Dragon had endangered civilians to expose the Government’s nature 241.
