Changing Circumstances

On the balcony extending from the exquisite castle stood a white round table and two white-backed chairs. Fei Xing Tian sat in one of them, cut off a piece of the strawberry cream cake before him with his knife and fork, put it into his mouth, and took another sip of black tea.

Across from him sat a slightly plump man dressed in a chef's uniform.

"You come here every day to mooch food and drink off me." The chef shook his head.

"After all, this is the Dreamscape Network, so there's no need to worry about calorie intake. Even sashimi comes without worrying about parasites." Fei Xing Tian chuckled. "Besides, this is much better than other virtual spiritual worlds these days. Take the virtual space, Star Dou Battle Net, recently developed by the Douluo Federation. It focuses only on combat. Though it claims to recreate all five human senses, its simulation of smell and taste is still lacking. When it comes to reproducing the flavor of cake, it falls far short."

"To be honest, even the Dreamscape Network's recreation of cake and black tea flavors leaves much to be desired. It does not even have raw ingredients—it starts processing directly from semi-finished products. Still, it is far better than the Douluo Federation's approach of directly calling up data for finished food. Their technology may be fine for ordinary people, where everything tastes the same no matter how it is made, but for a master chef like me, it is rather inadequate." The chef shook his head. "Still, only the Dreamscape Network can connect the Wisdom Research Institute with other regions of Douluo Star. We spend all day there, and this is our only outlet to the outside world."

"There's no need to worry too much about that. Hasn't the
