If destiny was a branch of the Destiny Great Dao, then karmic debt was a product of the Karma Great Dao!
One reaped the fruits of one's own actions; all living beings were the same.
Karmic debt could be divided into good karma, evil karma, and neutral karma.
Therefore, karmic debt did not simply refer to sin or evil karma.
That depended on how each world defined karmic debt.
In the Primordial World, karmic debt was a punitive force imposed by the Heavenly Dao upon living beings who committed evil. In essence, it was the Heavenly Dao's punishment!
As for good karma, it was included within merit.
Thus, merit could offset karmic debt.
In the Primordial World, there was one and only one way to eliminate karmic debt: offset it with merit!
However, obtaining merit was simply far too difficult.
In contrast, whenever one harmed living beings or disrupted the balance of the Primordial World, the Heavenly Dao would bestow karmic debt. The deeper one's sins, the heavier the karmic debt; the heavier the karmic debt, the harsher the Heavenly Dao's punishment.
It was clear that while merit was difficult to obtain, karmic debt was easily incurred!
And the only way to eliminate karmic debt was to offset it with merit.
There was no other method!
Thus, karmic debt became the executioner's blade hanging over every living being in the Primordial World.
Of course, unless one's karmic debt was exceedingly severe and reached a critical threshold, the Heavenly Dao would not directly mete out punishment.
If the Heavenly Dao truly acted personally to bring down punishment, then one had truly reached the point of unforgivable and heinous evil.
Therefore, as long as one's karmic debt was not too severe, there was no need to worry too much about it.
