Wang Teng and Saten Retsuka finally reached the end of the stone steps leading underground.
A light shone ahead.
The two cautiously approached the passage exit, only to find that what lay before them was not some underground space, but a glowing Circular Light Screen.
The screen was formed entirely of white light and looked like a mirror.
Wang Teng and Saten Retsuka looked at each other. Neither had expected this situation.
This was somewhat beyond their expectations.
"What do we do?" Saten Retsuka could not help asking.
"Don't rush."
Wang Teng's thoughts stirred. He separated a strand of Mental Power and extended it forward, slowly bringing it into contact with the Circular Light Screen.
He had already prepared to retreat immediately at the first sign of anything wrong.
To be safe, he would even sever that strand of Mental Power directly. Losing a little was nothing; he had plenty of Mental Power.
This wasn't cowardice. It was merely a Strategic Retreat!
That strand of Mental Power slowly stretched into the light screen like a tentacle. Saten Retsuka grew tense as well, her entire body tightening as though she feared the Black Bandits Leader might suddenly leap out from inside.
Yet nothing happened.
Everything remained calm.
Through his Mental Power, Wang Teng sensed some of what lay within. There were no signs of life at all; it seemed no one was there.
