Murakumogiri is Whitebeard's weapon of choice. When the Whitebeard Pirates set sail for Fish-Man Island, Whitebeard struck its hilt against the deck while issuing the order to depart. 182

Whitebeard wielded Murakumogiri in his duel with Austin on an uninhabited island. He charged the sword with Haki and brought it down toward Austin, then followed their initial clash with a series of powerful slashes. 185 After the battle ended in a draw, he carried the weapon while accompanying Austin before King Neptune. 190

Decades later, Whitebeard continued to keep Murakumogiri at hand during Austin's visit to his ship, using its impact against the deck to reinforce his refusal to let his crew interfere with Teach's fate. 728 731
