Portuguese Soldiers' Complaints

While East Africa achieved major military breakthroughs in two directions, the armies of the Angola Colony in the west also ran into trouble.

But this trouble did not come from East Africa. It came from Africa's environment and the Portuguese Army's own inadequate preparations.

Luaina was a small East African village in central Danube Province, a minor outpost established during East Africa's development of its western territories.

However, after East Africa implemented scorched-earth measures in the west, Luaina had long since become a ghost town. In the end, the East African National Defense Army destroyed the village.

A small unit from the Angola Colony was the first to discover it, but when they found it was an empty village, everyone was bitterly disappointed.

"Alding, damn it, another empty village. If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes, I'd have thought a plague had swept through. There isn't a trace of human life!"

Africa's climate was like that. Once no one lived somewhere, nature swiftly swallowed it whole. Luaina Village had been evacuated to the rear for two months, and its ruins were already covered in weeds and moss. All kinds of small animals had built nests there, displaying the "harmony" between "man and nature."

"Chris Luther, stop complaining. We're lucky to have found somewhere to rest our feet. I don't want to sleep out in the wild tonight. At least there are still some broken walls left behind by the East Africans. They're in a terrible state, but they can still offer some protection from the wind and rain," Alding told his comrade.

Though they were only broken walls and crumbling ruins, amid the dense rainforest surrounding them, the open ground and scattered wreckage of Luaina Village felt especially welcoming.
