East African Navy's Predicament

New Hamburg City.

As the East African National Defense Army retreated here, East Africa established multiple defensive lines centered on the urban area to resist the allied forces formed after Natal Colony and Mozambique joined forces.

"At present, with New Hamburg City's stockpiles, we can hold out for more than two months. At the same time, maintaining production in New Hamburg City is the main difficulty our army currently faces. Steel reserves are particularly insufficient. Right now, the only thing New Hamburg City does not lack is coal. Before the British army blockaded New Hamburg City, it was one of East Africa's coal export hubs, with vast quantities of coal stored at the docks and throughout the city."

"But coal alone can only keep the city's factories and power supply running. The lack of iron ore and other raw materials has made it impossible for the arsenals to maintain weapons production. Our weapons and equipment can now only be sustained through a small number of spare parts."

Put plainly, they were patching and mending things just enough to barely sustain wartime losses. But New Hamburg City was not an area where East Africa had concentrated its military industry, so its production capacity was extremely limited.

Moreover, New Hamburg City faced greater military pressure than any other city in East Africa. The war had never stopped, so even the supply of spare parts had already become stretched to the breaking point.

"Right now, we can obtain some supplies from the enemy through captured spoils, but that is merely a drop in the bucket. The arsenals have even begun dismantling equipment for raw materials. At this rate, we likely cannot hold out even half a month, unless we rely solely on rifles as weapons and endure shortages of ammunition as well."
