First Town.

By the beginning of 1890, East Africa's population figures had been updated once again. In fact, if not for the war, East Africa's population data should have been completed around July or August of last year.

Ever since East Africa's population census had been changed to once every ten years, 1889 had marked exactly ten years since the last census. It had been delayed by several months because of the war.

In 1879, East Africa had a population of fifty million, including thirty million native citizens and nearly twenty million black people. Now, ten years had passed.

"As of last December, East Africa's total population had exceeded fifty-two million. This made our country one of the few in the world with a population exceeding fifty million, ranking behind the Far East Empire, Britain, Tsarist Russia, and the United States."

"By our estimates, the United States' population should have exceeded sixty million. Germany and the Austro-Hungarian Empire should both have been around forty million, with Germany perhaps already nearing fifty million and not far behind us. The Austro-Hungarian Empire should have been slightly stronger than France, but its population was still roughly ten million below ours."

The present Austro-Hungarian Empire differed from its previous-life counterpart in that it had the Venice region, so its population was higher than in the original history, likely just over forty million.

Germany had always maintained a relatively high birth rate, and there had been no population outflow in recent years, so its population was closing in on fifty million, though it likely had not broken that mark.

France continued to perform steadily. However, it had absorbed quite a bit of population from Italy during the Italian War, so its population was likely higher than during the same period in the original timeline.
