"Why wasn't I crushed to death?"
Wizard Apprentice Nicano stopped crying.
That was right. The massive claw had clearly come down and closed just now.
Even if this Silver Gladiator, Steel Heart, had severely wounded the sand crab in time, I should have been crushed to death by those giant claws.
Bai Pu smiled, raised the tip of his spear, and lightly tapped the sand crab's massive claw.
"Mr. Nicano, come take a look."
Nicano was still somewhat afraid to approach. The sand crab had only been severely wounded and still had a breath left in it; it was not completely dead.
However, with Bai Pu leading the way, Nicano cautiously followed and finally saw the spot Bai Pu was pointing at.
On the inner sides of the sand crab's huge claws were two deep gashes, one on each side. Through them, red-and-white severed tendons could vaguely be seen.
"You... you severed its tendons so its claws couldn't exert any force?"
Nicano was rather surprised. "When did you do that?"
Bai Pu said, "I did it deliberately while I was flipping it over and spinning it like a top. After all, half of this big fellow's abilities lay in those claws. Once its eyes were blinded and the tendons in its giant claws severed, it was no longer much of a threat."
"So... I was never going to die." Nicano let out a breath.
"That's right, Mr. Nicano. I'll do my best to protect you... provided that I feel your goodwill."
"My goodwill... You mean you want me to teach you how to use the Magic Magnetic Compass?" Nicano immediately understood.
"Exactly."
"If I don't teach you... you won't protect me? You'll just let monsters kill me?"
Nicano could hardly believe it. How could someone be so black-hearted?
