Before hatching, she was forcibly plucked from the Gourd Vine by Chrysanthemum and Ghost Douluo and brought to Spirit Hall 107. Kept in a comatose state due to insufficient energy, she was discovered by Bibi Dong, who injected her own energy and the power of the Rakshasa God statue into the purple gourd 107.

Upon hatching, Qi Wa was manipulated by Bibi Dong, who falsely claimed to be her maternal grandmother 108 111. Given the name Shi Ling'er, she was raised in the Pope's Palace and heavily conditioned to obey Bibi Dong 111 113. Due to her immense innate talent, consumption of Gourd Shells, and rare life-force treasures, her cultivation surged past normal limits within days 122 123.
