Admiral Lame paced anxiously back and forth inside the conning tower. Though the thunderous cannon fire echoed in his ears, it did nothing to reassure him. Although they had five Battleships encircling two German Navy Battleships, the French Navy had no chance of winning at all.
"Damn it! Why had it come to this? Five of our Battleships against two German ones, and we still hadn't scored a hit! If this kept up, what were they supposed to do?" Admiral Lame said furiously.
The other French Navy officers on the bridge remained silent. They all knew Admiral Lame was in a rage and did not dare stroke the tiger's whiskers. If they triggered Admiral Lame's wrath, things would become very unpleasant.
Though the French Navy held an absolute numerical advantage, it held no advantage whatsoever in other respects. As for warship performance, the French had long since lost their ambition to vigorously develop their navy. How could they possibly build advanced Battleships under such circumstances? Their warships lagged a full step behind those of Britain and Germany. The quality of their naval officers and sailors likewise could not compare with the British and German navies. That was why the current situation had arisen.
"Admiral, a Telegram from Admiral Jellicoe. He hopes we can sink the two German Battleships as soon as possible," a Communications Officer reported.
"Bastard! Of course I wanted to sink the German Battleships too. But if it couldn't be done now, what could I do?" Admiral Lame roared angrily.
The officer immediately lowered his head and dared not say another word.
"Send a Telegram to every ship. Tell them our time is running out, and we must sink the German warships as quickly as possible. Otherwise, we were doomed
