Abandon Ship

The German Navy's Battlecruiser Squadron had finally reached the battlefield. Although, before their arrival, the main fleet of the German High Seas Fleet had gradually turned the tide and gained the upper hand, the Battlecruiser Squadron's arrival would enable the German Navy to win this battle even faster.

"All ships, prepare! Aim at the British Fleet—fire!" Vice Admiral Spee gave the order to open fire aboard the flagship, the battlecruiser Mackensen.

The German Navy's Battlecruiser Squadron had appeared directly ahead of the British fleet's 2nd Battle Line. A perfect Crossing the T had thus taken shape. The two sides were only twelve thousand meters apart.

The Mackensen's three triple-mounted 50-caliber 380mm Main Guns began firing furiously. Nine one-ton shells screamed through the air toward the Battleship Nevada, at the very front of the British fleet's 2nd Battle Line.

The Mackensen opening fire was like an unmistakable signal. The remaining ten battlecruisers also began firing.

For a moment, shells fell like rain around the Battleship Nevada.

Although the distance was not particularly close and no ranging shots had been fired, the concentrated firepower formed by eleven battlecruisers and ninety-nine main guns firing at a single target was still terrifying. Of those ninety-nine main guns, fifty-four were 380mm Main Guns, while another twenty-seven were 343mm Main Guns and eighteen were 305mm Main Guns. All of these were 50-caliber guns, granting their shells formidable armor-piercing power.

"God! The Germans' battlecruisers are here! They're right in front of us—they've seized Crossing the T!" The British Navy officers and sailors aboard the Battleship Nevada cried out in alarm.
