Crushing Defeat

The sinking of the battleship Vengeance was undoubtedly an enormous blow to the British Royal Navy. Not only because the battleship Vengeance had been their flagship, but also because it was the most powerful battleship currently in service with the Royal Navy. Now that even the Vengeance had been sunk, the other battleships would inevitably find it hard to escape the same fate.

After sinking the battleships Bavaria and Brandenburg, the German Navy's battleships turned to the encirclement offensive against the other British warships.

Aboard the battleship New York, Vice Admiral Martin's face was ashen. Not only had he received word that the battleship Vengeance had been sunk and Admiral John Jellicoe had chosen to go down with his ship, but the New York itself was also in imminent danger under the German Navy's encirclement offensive.

Each of the three Mackensen-class battleships possessed combat power far beyond that of the New York. With all three besieging it, the New York had no chance of survival at all.

During the earlier battle, the New York had already been hit by two 380mm Shells. Since neither had struck a vital area, they had not been fatal. But now, as the attacks from the three Mackensen-class battleships grew ever fiercer, the New York's chances of being hit kept rising.

Boom!

A 380mm Shell fired from the battleship Friedrich Karl struck the New York's superstructure. It punched a huge hole straight through the superstructure and started a fire at the same time.

The damage-control crews immediately began fighting the blaze. Wearing gas masks, they charged into the inferno. Many were swallowed whole by the flames.
