Churchill's Resolve

"Prime Minister, I believe we must now prepare to fight to the bitter end. If we surrender to the Germans, Britain will be little different from destroyed. Only by fighting to the bitter end will we have even a sliver of a chance." Churchill's face was set with determination.

"Fight to the bitter end? That would turn the entire British Isles into a battlefield. Our land would become scorched earth, our cities would be reduced to ruins, and our people would die in the war. By the time we fought to the end, what would remain of the British Empire?" Sir Edward Grey shook his head, opposing Churchill's view.

"Sir, I hope we can resist to the very end because I want to fight for our final chance. If we can withstand the Germans' attacks—or inflict such grievous losses upon them on the British Isles that they are forced to abandon the use of force to defeat us—then perhaps we can pay as little a price as possible. That would be extremely beneficial to the British Empire. Of course, it would also mean paying a greater price. But so long as we can achieve this goal, every sacrifice will be worth it." Churchill said firmly.
