Capital Ship Showdown

Combined Fleet Chief of Staff Rear Admiral Yamashita Gentarō saw the ugly expression on Admiral Ijūin Gorō's face. He gritted his teeth, then issued the order for the other warships to sortie.

"Uzuki, Minazuki, Nagatsuki, and Kikuzuki, sortie at once! Take out those two German destroyers!"

"Yes, General." The Communications Officer immediately went to send the telegram.

The four Kamikaze-class destroyers immediately charged toward the German Navy's two destroyers after receiving their orders.

"Despicable Island Nation scum! Two against two, they were no match for us, and now they've sent another four destroyers all at once. Fifty-three minutes—only three minutes left. If we can't sink another Island Nation destroyer, we'll have no choice but to withdraw!" Captain Mike ordered.

This drove the German Navy's two destroyers to fire even more frantically. Dense shells crashed down upon the Island Nation Navy's two Kamikaze-class destroyers like a torrential rain.

Boom!

An 88mm shell struck the bridge of the destroyer Isolami. After punching through the bulkhead, the shell exploded inside. Though an 88mm shell was not especially powerful, its explosion inside the cramped bridge sent shrapnel flying in all directions, easily killing every Island Nation Navy officer and sailor within, including Captain Sonoda Shigeyoshi.

Over the following three minutes, the destroyer Isolami was struck more than ten more times. For a destroyer with a displacement of only 450 tons, such damage was undoubtedly fatal.

Before long, the destroyer sank beneath the sea from the severity of its damage.

The destroyer Ayanami was luckier and escaped disaster. Though it too had been heavily damaged, the Island Nation Navy's other four destroyers arrived. This left the German Navy's two destroyers with no choice but to abandon their continued attack on Ayanami and withdraw instead.

The Island Nation Navy's four Kamikaze-class destroyers pursued relentlessly. However, the
