Berlin, on a secluded street. It was not quite a slum, but it could hardly be called prosperous either. Inside an ordinary three-story building, a middle-aged man with a pipe clenched between his teeth frowned.
"Have the Germans replied yet?" the middle-aged man asked.
"Comrade Joseph, there has been no reply from the Germans so far. They previously said that German Emperor Wilhelm III was too busy with official affairs to receive you," another middle-aged man said.
The middle-aged man smoking the pipe was Joseph, one of Buru's leaders. This time, he had come to Germany as Buru's envoy to attend the Military Parade. At the same time, he bore other missions as well.
In Eastern Europe, within Germany's newly occupied territories, the German military had deployed as many as four army groups, nearly eight hundred thousand troops, to encircle and suppress the guerrillas active in the region. After more than half a year, those guerrillas had suffered a devastating blow. The vast majority had been wiped out, with only a tiny number surviving. Even so, the surviving guerrillas were in an extremely difficult position.
Buru's underground forces in the region had suffered a devastating blow as well. Buru had always worked to develop its influence there, supporting quite a few guerrilla units. The purpose was to prevent Germany from truly digesting these territories, while also preparing to retake them in the future. With those guerrillas coordinating from within, their chances of reclaiming those lands in the future would undoubtedly be much greater.
But unfortunately, their wishful calculations had gone wrong. How could Germany possibly allow them to have their way? The powerful German military was ruthlessly exterminating the guerrillas while eliminating Bolshevik Party members along with them. This had already dealt Buru a heavy blow.
