History

Ancient influence and decline

Jade Capital historically descended into the world and merged with its earthly projections, creating realms known as Chosen Lands. Tai Xu was one such Chosen Land; its exceptional “stars,” “moons,” and potential “Blazing Suns” were understood in relation to Jade Capital’s influence. 391

By the time Liu Mo reached the ruined Sky City, Jade Capital’s influence had waned, with no active Heavenly Gods or Heavenly Immortals visible in the era. Two decayed former Heavenly Gods, Yu Heng and Mo Yuan, revealed that they had unknowingly taken two secret items from Jade Capital. 398

Decree, inversion, and destruction

During the winter crisis in Night Province, a publicly disclosed decree from Jade Capital declared: “Night is not yet over!” Other portions of its decree were summarized as “Return,” but an emissary warned against speculative interpretation of its will. 413

The revival was uncertain. Black mist had gathered beyond Jade Capital, and Earth Immortals who approached it reportedly died instantly. Some feared that the decrees might have originated from an unknown force or “Colossal Being” confronting Jade Capital rather than from the city itself. 413

Jade Capital then appeared intermittently as an inverted, hazy city beyond the heavens. It ultimately disintegrated in the sky while entangled with a colossal, red-hot shadow that tore apart its mountain-sized gate towers. Its falling fragments caused destructive and bizarre phenomena across Night Province. 416 417

Prototype and reformation

After the destruction, a Jade Capital Prototype emerged. Cultivators believed that early entrants might be nourished by its Dao Rhythm and potentially attain Heavenly Immortal-level achievements, though Qin Ming remained wary because Liu Mo was believed to have escaped from it. 425

The prototype introduced opportunities for cultivators to gain merit, enter Jade Capital, and potentially become Heavenly Immortals. Exceptional talents could ascend through the New or Golden Rankings for direct entry. 431

When an outside force attempted to interfere with the prototype, the New Ranking announced that “Jade Capital has been reformed.” The city’s ranking system subsequently organized battles in the Night Mist Sea against challengers from beyond its sphere of influence. 454 456

Revival and disappearance

Following its Nirvana, old mechanisms within Jade Capital gradually restarted, including its trial system and recruitment of potential Saints. 467

Jade Capital later manifested a divine presence powerful enough to make Zhuo Kun and eight Earth Immortals kneel in terror. Its revival prompted fears that it had selected a new master. 515 516

Despite this resurgence, Jade Capital later disappeared again from Beyond the World, leaving the old factions unable to continue pursuing matters connected to its temporary owners and relics. 537 551

Jade Capital is an immense ancient city that has appeared upside down beyond the Nine Heavens. It is often hazy and unreal, as though distorted by tides or separated from observers by a world barrier. 511 512
