Background

Yu Xiaogang was already known for martial soul theory when Su Xing sought to become his disciple. Judging Su Xing's level-three Innate Soul Power as inadequate, Yu Xiaogang refused him and directed him toward his published theories instead. This decision became a lasting source of regret after Su Xing's rapid growth. 1 15

He later became Shrek Academy's instructor and personally guided Tang San. His teaching emphasized that there were “no useless martial souls, only useless soul masters,” although Zhu Zhuqing immediately challenged the claim. 16

Yu Xiaogang is proud of his theoretical knowledge and initially reluctant to seek answers directly from Su Xing, even when Su Xing's development contradicts his expectations. After learning that Su Xing had detonated his spirit rings, Yu Xiaogang theorizes that residual soul power within rings could break cultivation bottlenecks. He repeatedly detonates his own ring, reaches level 30, then discovers that he cannot absorb a replacement spirit ring. 15 23 24 25

Conflict with Bibi Dong

Yu Xiaogang visits Bibi Dong to seek a solution for Tang San's Twin Martial Soul conflict. Learning that Tang San is Tang Hao's son and already targeted by Martial Soul Hall, Bibi Dong refuses; Yu Xiaogang vows to destroy Martial Soul Hall if Tang San is killed and declares that no affection remains between them. 100 101

Publication and Disgrace

Yu Xiaogang publishes the Ring Detonation theory after reaching level 31. Martial Soul Hall clarifies that Su Xing was not Yu Xiaogang's student and had already developed a more complete version of the concept. The theory's missing body-tempering component leaves practitioners unable to progress and causes deaths, making Yu Xiaogang a public target. 177 179 183

Final Confrontation and Death

Following Martial Soul Hall's destruction of the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan, Yu Xiaogang vows revenge alongside Liu Erlong. Su Xing confronts the Golden Triangle at the ruined clan, denounces Yu Xiaogang for relying on gifted disciples to validate himself, and defeats their Sacred Dragon Manifestation.
