Osmanthus as 'Matchmaker' (Part 1)

As night deepened.

A plain, unadorned carriage slowly came to a stop before Prince of Beijing's Estate.

The Carriage Driver, wearing a dogskin cap, craned his neck to peer into the gatehouse. Though he could see nothing in the pitch-black darkness, his face still took on an expression of clicking admiration.

He then tucked the whip beneath his arm, nimbly jumped down from the carriage, and called brightly, "Sir, we've arrived at Prince of Beijing's Estate."

By the time that enchanting figure had fully stretched herself out upon the carriage shaft, the Carriage Driver below was already dry-mouthed with desire.

Though he knew perfectly well that a woman like this was beyond his reach, he could not help shamelessly moving closer. Reaching out to assist her, he smiled ingratiatingly. "Young Lady, be careful. Don't bump or hurt yourself."

Who would have thought that, despite her sweetly alluring appearance, her sharp tongue showed no mercy whatsoever? Her willow brows shot up as she planted one hand on her hip and cursed, "You blind dog slave! You think you're worthy of coming near me?! If you don't get out of the way, I'll chop off those dog paws of yours and use them as fertilizer for my flowers!"

As she spoke, she raised a pale, slender hand and made a vicious chopping gesture through the air.

The Carriage Driver staggered back half a step in fright. Then, seeing the tall and burly gentleman emerge from the carriage cabin, he shuddered again and hurriedly lowered his eyes, saying with a fawning smile, "I only meant well. I... I had no other intentions."

The two in the carriage were none other than Sun Shaozong and Xia Jingui.

Given their status, neither could be bothered to argue with a temporarily hired Carriage Driver.
