Middle Three Arrives One After Another

Just as Princess of Beijing stood at a loss, the Black Awning Boat had already pulled broadside against the shore.

Though the boat's slow approach made only a faint sound, to Wei Ying's ears it was no different from a Land Mine exploding; and that small Black Awning Boat seemed, in her eyes, like a mountain pressing down upon her!

Overcome with terror, Wei Ying unconsciously retreated two steps. Then she turned and pushed open the back door of the Dragon King Temple, preparing to flee back inside.

But just then, the sound of splashing water came from the lake again. Wei Ying instinctively glanced back, only to see Sun Shaozong grasping a punting pole and, without the slightest hesitation, pushing the boat away!

It was as though a basin of cold water had been dumped over her head, immediately reminding Wei Ying of the purpose of this trip.

If she truly let Sun Shaozong leave like this, would all her previous efforts not have been in vain?

So she froze in place, slowly turned back around, and stared at the little boat drifting away. After hesitating for a long while, she finally gritted her teeth and descended the steps.

As her tall figure gradually lowered, Wei Ying's heart seemed to sink into a bottomless abyss.

Yet what filled her with even greater shame and indignation was that, though Sun Shaozong had clearly seen her approaching, he showed no intention of returning to shore. Instead, he continued slowly punting the boat away.

Even if Wei Ying was not particularly clever, she had already seen through his tactic of playing hard to get.

But what good was seeing through it?
