Background / History

Obito infiltrates Konoha during Kushina Uzumaki’s childbirth to seize the Nine-Tails. Using space-time ninjutsu to bypass the village’s barriers, he frees the beast and attempts to destroy Konoha while operating under the identity of “Madara Uchiha.” His stated target is both Konoha and the Fourth Hokage, whom he holds responsible alongside the village for his grievances. 180 181

During the Nine-Tails incident, Obito battles his former teacher, Minato Namikaze. Minato identifies the weakness in Obito’s intangibility and defeats him despite Obito’s caution; Obito escapes injured with Black Zetsu’s assistance. 184 187
