Background

Before the apocalypse, Chen Sixuan was a tall, well-regarded university foreign-language teacher from an intellectual family. She was known as a beautiful, educated urban professional and was unusually unmarried for Jiang City's social environment. She also possessed multilingual skills and knowledge related to the Orbital Ring. 2

Lin Xian had previously invited her to join his rail-train escape plan, but she refused because he had not disclosed his powers and she expected rescue forces to arrive. After Jiang City's first extreme night shattered that belief, she contacted him and offered her knowledge and language skills in return for a place on the train. 2

Lin Xian rescues Chen from Director Liang Wei's attempted assault at her apartment. Having endured starvation and isolation, she is initially physically and emotionally exhausted; she nevertheless chooses to leave with Lin and board the Infinite. 6 11
