Background / History
Shirakawa entered Inajitsu’s First String as part of a group of second-year players that included Narumiya Mei, Carlos, and Yamaoka Riku. Their rapid promotion created friction with the older players; Harada later credited Shirakawa with helping keep Narumiya and Carlos from escalating the conflict. 173
Although he was considered for captaincy after Harada’s generation retired, Shirakawa refused the role. He believed he could not handle the captain’s responsibilities while continuing to improve himself, but agreed to support the new captain and help mediate between Narumiya and catcher Tadano Itsuki. 168 173
Shirakawa accepted nutritional support from Su Qing to address his slight build and lack of strength. After gaining weight, he developed greater hitting power, though the added mass initially reduced his bodily control and required increased defensive training. 120 187
Appearance
Shirakawa is tall but notably thin, a physique that limits his power at the plate. His partially obscured eye, hairstyle, and gloomy-looking expression can make him appear intimidating despite his gentler demeanor off the field. 74 120 142
- Tall frame with good eyesight. 120 142
- Lean build; his lack of weight and strength is a recurring concern. 120 187
- Often presents a gloomy or severe expression, even when he is not upset. 62 142
Personality
Shirakawa is serious, responsible, and highly self-critical. After causing a double play against To Akitsudai, he immediately accepted responsibility, recognizing that his decision had betrayed Carlos’s trust as a baserunner. 61
Despite his intimidating appearance, he frequently acts as the group’s mediator—especially when Su Qing and Narumiya begin arguing. His teammates jokingly characterize him as an “old mother” figure because of this habit. 56 62
He is willing to subordinate his personal ambitions to the team’s needs, serving as Coach Kunimoto’s tactical tool even while struggling with the feeling of being valued chiefly for utility. 61 173
