"Chiba, what's wrong? Are you hurt too?"
Seeing Chiba standing there somewhat dazed, Minato Namikaze's expression changed slightly. Though his face did not alter much, concern was clearly visible in his eyes.
Could Chiba have been injured in this battle too? Then again, Kushina often says this child tries harder than anyone to put on a brave face. And this was a major battle against powerful opponents. He must have gone through a life-and-death struggle. Injuries would be unavoidable.
And now they were behind enemy lines, while his teammates had lost their fighting ability. Even if he was already utterly exhausted, he could only maintain a composed appearance.
This thought crossed his mind.
"No, I'm fine!"
Hearing Minato Namikaze's concerned question, Chiba finally snapped out of his daze and hurriedly replied, "I'm fine. I'm really fine."
As he spoke, Chiba wiped away the cold sweat beading at his temples and took a slight breath. The flaw he had just realized had frightened him into a cold sweat, and Minato Namikaze had likely asked because he saw how much he was sweating.
That was dangerous! Too dangerous!
If Minato Namikaze hadn't asked anything and had simply teleported us back to the village, everything would have been for nothing! With my identity exposed, I barely survived. If Minato Namikaze sent me back to the village, I probably wouldn't have another chance to set foot on this battlefield!
I was stuck in a fixed way of thinking before! Since Minato Namikaze should have been with Kakashi and the others, I assumed he would take us to Kakashi—or at least that there was a high chance he would take us to them.
*That was completely wishful thinking! Minato Namikaze uses the Flying Thunder God, which lets him freely travel between two places in an
