Background and History

Kakashi is the son of Hatake Sakumo, known as Konoha's White Fang, and a student of Minato Namikaze. He serves alongside Obito Uchiha and Rin Nohara in Minato Squad. Chiba meets him before the squads are introduced to one another 26 707 746.

During the Kannabi Bridge mission, Minato appoints Kakashi leader of the team with Obito and Rin. Kakashi receives a Flying Thunder God kunai from Minato and a medical kit from Rin. Eager to test his new Chidori, he charges enemy ninja despite Minato's initial caution and is seriously injured. Minato reprimands him for relying on an immature technique rather than adapting to the situation 746 952 954.

The deaths of Obito and Rin leave Kakashi despondent and halt his growth. He later takes extended leave; Chiba finds him at the Hokage's grave site while trying to invite him into the Ninja Engineering Corps. Kakashi subsequently recruits five Academy teachers for the project and helps oversee its broader work 1259 1268 1410.

Kakashi later teaches Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura as Team 7. His teaching balances their development: while preparing to train Sasuke, he assigns Naruto to Ebisu in a move Jiraiya recognizes as an attempt to draw him into Naruto's training 2168 2452.
